We provide professional custom EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) services focused on high-precision hard material and intricate structure component manufacturing. Equipped with advanced wire cut EDM, sinker EDM and hole drilling EDM equipment, we deliver one-stop EDM machining solutions from rapid prototyping to large-scale mass production. Our stable processing capacity ensures high-precision, burr-free and deformation-free quality for all complex custom parts with consistent batch stability.

Sinker EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) is a non-contact precision manufacturing process that removes material via high-frequency electrical spark erosion. Different from traditional cutting methods, EDM generates no mechanical cutting force, making it ideal for ultra-hard metals, thin-walled fragile structures, sharp inner corners, narrow slits and intricate micro features that cannot be processed by conventional CNC machining. It achieves high-precision material removal with zero burrs, zero deformation and excellent dimensional repeatability.

EDM / DESIGN

EDM Machining Design Guidelines

Active engineering chapter

Spark gap, slit depth and micro-hole heat

Reserve Reasonable Spark Gap

Reserve a standard 0.01mm–0.03mm spark gap for all EDM mating surfaces. Zero-gap designs cause discharge interference and dimensional inaccuracy during spark erosion

Limit Slit Depth-width Ratio

Control the slit depth-to-width ratio within 8:1. Excessively deep and narrow slits lead to poor residue removal and unstable spark discharge, causing uneven surface finishes

Optimize Micro Hole Spacing

Keep micro hole spacing above 0.2mm. Dense ultra-small holes generate concentrated heat during continuous discharge, triggering thermal deformation and dimensional deviation

EDM / PROCESS

EDM Production Process

A controlled route from electrode strategy to dimensional and surface verification.

EDM traveler

The spark gap, access and flushing strategy are fixed before erosion begins.

  1. 01

    Review geometry and conductive material

Confirm the cavity, slit, hole or contour, then identify critical dimensions, surface requirements and inspection datums.

  2. 02

    Plan electrode and spark allowance

Define electrode geometry, spark gap, access direction and the dimensional allowance needed for controlled erosion.

  3. 03

    Prepare datum and dielectric setup

Establish a stable positioning reference and arrange dielectric circulation or flushing for the selected EDM route.

  4. 04

    Run controlled spark erosion

Apply staged discharge parameters to remove material while controlling heat, debris evacuation and feature accuracy.

  5. 05

    Complete specified post-processing

Apply the requested polishing or protective finish while preserving critical cavity, slit, hole and edge geometry.

  6. 06

    Inspect dimensions and surface result

Verify dimensional accuracy, feature size and surface condition before the batch is released.

What is EDM machining used for?

EDM machining is a specialized non-contact precision manufacturing process, mainly used for processing high-hardness metals, ultra-narrow slits, sharp inner corners, micro holes and complex special-shaped parts that cannot be completed by traditional CNC cutting.

What materials can EDM process?

EDM is applicable to all conductive metal materials, including stainless steel, hardened steel, alloy steel, tungsten steel, brass, copper and titanium alloy. Material hardness does not affect processing efficiency and accuracy.

What is the minimum feature size for EDM?

We support a minimum slit width of 0.05mm and a minimum micro hole diameter of 0.1mm, capable of machining various ultra-fine micro structures.

Does EDM machining produce burrs?

No. EDM removes material via spark erosion without mechanical cutting, resulting in zero edge burrs and eliminating secondary deburring processes.

Will EDM processing deform parts?

No mechanical cutting force is generated during EDM processing, ensuring zero deformation for thin-walled, fragile and high-precision components.

What is your tightest EDM tolerance?

We can achieve ultra-high precision tolerance up to ±0.002mm, meeting strict precision requirements for high-end mold and equipment components.

Can you customize special-shaped EDM parts?

Yes. We provide full custom EDM manufacturing services according to customer 2D/3D drawings, supporting all kinds of complex irregular structural parts.

Can you support mass production of EDM parts?

Yes. Our standardized EDM production system supports stable batch processing with consistent dimensional accuracy and surface quality for large orders.

How about your EDM delivery cycle?

Prototype orders take 3–5 working days, and mass production takes 10–15 working days, adjusted according to part complexity and order quantity.
